The tank foundation must be flat, sturdy, and have a load-bearing capacity sufficient for full load. The foundation surface must be waterproofed. The installation environment should avoid highly corrosive gases and dusty environments. For outdoor installations, sun and rain protection measures are required. Pipe joints must be made of stainless steel. Valves must be checked for leaks before installation, and inlet and outlet pipes must have flexible connections. After installation, a hydrostatic or pneumatic pressure test must be conducted, and the test pressure must meet design standards.

The applicable medium for the storage tank must be clearly defined. Substances that react with stainless steel are prohibited from being stored. When storing food or pharmaceuticals, ensure the tank meets hygiene standards. Liquid level alarm devices must be installed. For atmospheric pressure tanks, ensure the breather valve is unobstructed; for pressure tanks, monitor the pressure gauge. When storing high-temperature media, check the integrity of the insulation layer. In low-temperature environments, prevent condensation on the tank or solidification of the medium. Open and close valves slowly; direct hot work on the tank is prohibited.

Daily inspection of the tank's appearance is necessary, checking for deformation, cracks, corrosion spots, or media leaks. Also, check the pressure gauge, level gauge, thermometer, and other instruments for proper functioning. Regular cleaning of the tank bottom is required, along with acid pickling and passivation treatment of the inner wall. The outer wall can be coated with anti-corrosion paint. Special attention should be paid to inspecting easily corroded areas such as welds, the connection between the end caps and the tank body, etc. Regular lubrication of valve screws and manhole cover seals is necessary, along with replacing aged gaskets and verifying safety accessories.

The tank body must be labeled with the medium name, hazardous characteristics, maximum volume, and safety warning signs. Open-air storage tanks must be equipped with lightning protection grounding devices. Emergency response plans for leaks, fires, and other accidents should be developed and emergency supplies provided. Tank areas storing hazardous chemicals must be equipped with containment dikes. Before entering the tank for work, ventilation and purging are required, oxygen content and toxic gas concentrations must be tested, and protective equipment must be worn. The tank area should be kept clean; the area inside the fire dike should be free of dry grass, oil stains, and flammable materials. The drainage system should have water seal wells, and valves should be installed on the drainage pipes outside the fire dike. Non-explosion-proof electrical equipment and high-voltage overhead lines should not be installed in the tank area.

In winter, heat tracing and insulation should be applied to the tank drain pipes and instrument pressure taps. Specialized lifting equipment must be used when moving storage tanks.
